Photo Gallery | Fire Burning Near Hodges and Butler Boulevard

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. A large fire started burning Sunday in Jacksonville in the area of Hodges and Butler Boulevard.

According to Jacksonville Fire and Rescue, there are two fires burning on the Hodges' family property.  Lightning started both fires this afternoon.

Initially Sunday afternoon, Jacksonville Fire and Rescue said the woods fire was a controlled burn on private property and the property owner was handling it.  By 5:30 p.m., firefighters arrived on scene to assess the fire.

As of 700 p.m. Sunday, a captain with JFRD said the fire is not a controlled burn and firefighters are on scene fighting it.

It's located in the 7500 block of Hodges Boulevard.

The fire is sending a thick plume of smoke into the sky and it is visible from miles away. 

According to JFRD, the only buildings which are threatened by the fire are a house and other structures on the piece of private property.
