Grace sent us this picture of her dog, Judge, waking up in a tent after camping at Victory Lake in Jacksonville’s west side over the weekend.

Judge was looking out the tent because there was a gaggle of geese who wanted to swim into the shore but couldn’t because Judge was there. Grace and her dad woke up to a bunch of geese honking at Judge.

Grace is 9 years old and goes to Providence Elementary School.

Sharks Swarm Near South Florida Shore

Sharks Swarm Near South Florida Shore

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- The warmer waters off Florida are bringing more sharks closer to the coast.

Thousands of sharks were spotted Wednesday, swimming about 50 yards from the shore near the Boca Raton Inlet.

The area called shark ledge is a popular diving spot known for its population of caribbean reef sharks and other sea life.

Biologists say sharks typically migrate this time of year to warmer waters.

They also swim close to shore to chase bait fish.

How Many Birds Can You Count?

Chilly weather throughout Florida has kept residents inside and close to their heaters, under blankets and in their sweats, long sleeves and socks during December and January. However, spring is just around the corner and there is wildlife to discover in your backyard!

Get your binoculars ready, because starting Feb. 18, the largest bird count in North America begins. The Great Backyard Bird Count, which runs through Feb. 21, is a wonderful chance to add to your Bird Detective checklist and help scientists monitor birds across America. If you do not have a checklist, download it from MyFWC.com/Learning. In the left-hand menu, click “Fun Stuff.” From there, look on the right side of the page under “Educator Links” for “Jr. Birder Program.”
