Six of the Top Big Air Surfers Battle It Out Nov. 6th

Red Bull Night Riders welcomes six surfers pushing the limits of aerial surfing on Saturday, November 6 (8-10pm) at the Flagler Beach Pier.

Bruce Irons, whose career includes victories as a Pipeline Master, Quicksilver Eddie Aikau winner, and World Tour champion will battle it out with five of Florida’s top aerialists.

Representing the sunshine state will be Jacksonville's own Cody Thompson, two-time Tommy Tant Champion Aaron Cormican from New Symrna Beach, Central Florida's Blake Jones and Alek Parker, and former Tommy Tant champion Jesse Heilman who hails from Daytona Beach.

Jaguars trade safety Anthony Smith to Green Bay; sign cornerback Chevis Jackson

The Jacksonville Jaguars and the Green Bay Packers finalized a trade today with safety Anthony Smith going to the Packers in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick.  In addition, the Jaguars signed third-year cornerback Chevis Jackson.

Stone Crab Season Opens Oct. 15

The commercial and recreational harvest season for stone crab claws in Florida opens on Oct. 15.  The season will remain open through May 15.

Stone crab claws must be at least 2 3/4 inches in length to be harvested legally, and claws may not be taken from egg-bearing female stone crabs.  Recreational harvesters are allowed to use up to five stone crab traps, and there is a daily bag limit of one gallon of claws per person or two gallons per vessel, whichever is less.

City Encourages Participation in "Teal Monday" Events, Offers Free Parking at Select Facilities

Mayor John Peyton has proclaimed Monday, Oct. 18, 2010 as “Teal Monday” in support of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Monday Night Football game against divisional rivals, the Tennessee Titans. To create a fun environment for all to enjoy, the Jaguars and others will host festivities at various locations throughout downtown.
