Pizza Bowl Eating Contest This Saturday in Ponte Vedra

Qualifiers have been working their way into the Pizza Bowl by seeing how much pizza they can eat in just 20 minutes. “We had contestants come into one of our three locations to qualify throughout December and January,” says Hannah Shearer, Brucci’s Partner. “From those qualifiers, we picked the top 30 to compete for our Super Bowl of Pizza Eating on January 29th. We are very lucky to welcome back Dan Hicken and Brent Martineau to do the play-by-play of the challenge. They made it an unbelievable event last year”!

Jacksonville Beach Boston’s Cares fundraiser to support local Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

With Valentine’s Day less than a month away, diners now have the opportunity to celebrate the holiday while supporting a good cause. The Jacksonville Boston’s Restaurant & Sports Bar is helping to spread the love through the Boston’s Cares national campaign in hopes of raising more than $100,000 for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and the children served by its local chapters.

Country Star James Wesley Takes the Whisky River Stage Next Week

Country music fans in Jacksonville have more than just the George Straight concert to look forward to next week. Whisky River is gearing up for the Country Music Hall of Famer’s show by hosting the Official George Strait Warm-up Party headlined by James Wesley on Thursday night, January 27.

Wesley scored two songs on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in 2010 – “Jackson Hole,” which peaked at No. 41, and “Real,” which reached No. 25 on the chart. Both singles will be on Real, Wesley’s first album on Broken Bow Records, which is slated for a March release. Previously Wesley was signed to Warner Bros. Records and released an album as James Prosser entitled Life Goes On in 1999.
