History Professor Discusses New American Politics Book at Bookmark, Nov. 12th

Author Dr. David Courtwright, a Presidential Professor in the Department of History at the University of North Florida, will be discussing and signing his new book, “No Right Turn: Conservative Politics in a Liberal America,”at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, in the Bookmark bookstore, located at 220 First Street in Neptune Beach.

City Encourages Participation in "Teal Monday" Events, Offers Free Parking at Select Facilities

Mayor John Peyton has proclaimed Monday, Oct. 18, 2010 as “Teal Monday” in support of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Monday Night Football game against divisional rivals, the Tennessee Titans. To create a fun environment for all to enjoy, the Jaguars and others will host festivities at various locations throughout downtown. 

FairDistrictsFlorida Responds to AARP Endorsement

The AARP Florida today announced their endorsement of Amendments 5 and 6, adding one of the most wide-reaching and impactful organizations in the State to the list of supporters of the FairDistricts Amendments. AARP Florida will help educate its nearly 3 million members and 96 chapters across the state that a YES vote on Amendments 5 and 6 will create rules to stop politicians from drawing districts to favor themselves or their political allies. These FairDistricts amendments will require the Tallahassee politicians to make sure they protect voters’ interests rather than their own when they redraw Congressional and legislative districts in 2012 and every ten years thereafter.
