ST. AUGUSTINE BEACH, Fla. -- The city of St. Augustine Beach now has a new law in place protecting against the discrimination of gays, lesbians, and transgendered individuals when it comes to housing.
St. Augustine Beach city commissioners voted Monday night. The new ordinance makes it illegal discriminate against a person's sexual orientation when he or she wants to rent or buy a home.
A similar law passed in St. Augustine last year but it failed in Jacksonville.
The St. Augustine Beach is now drafting another bill. The proposed law would ban discrimination against gays, lesbians, and transgendered individuals in the workplace.
