Several hundred people brave chilly temps for Polar Plunge
JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. -- A water temperature of almost 60 degrees did not deter approximately 700 people from participating in this year's Polar Plunge at the Sea Walk Pavilion.
The WaveMasters Surf Club has put on the annual event for more than 20 years.
Participants are required to wear only swimming attire for the plunge and must completely submerge in the Atlantic Ocean.
Prizes were awarded for the oldest and youngest plungers, as well as an award for the plunger who traveled the farthest. All participants earned a free sticker.
