JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Alice Baker of Jacksonville Beach was On Your Side when emailed us after she received what's known as a "phishing" email disguised as a billing message from Comcast.
Baker did the right thing and called Comcast when the email showed up, then she contacted the On Your Side Team.
The On Your Side Team spoke with Comcast who said they are aware of these emails and stressed Comcast will never contact customers and request personally identifiable information via email.
In addition to Comcast, third parties often create email designed to look as if they're from a financial institution. The same rules apply, call your bank, credit or lender and double check the email.
Comcast does have an email to report phishing, simply copy and paste the email in question and send it to abuse@comcast.net and never respond to phishing emails.
