ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. -- The Atlantic Beach Police Department has obtained an arrest warrant for Kenneth Thomas.
Thomas was captaining a shrimp boat that ran aground August 21.
After the boat ran aground off Atlantic Beach, police said Thomas jumped into the water to avoid questioning.
When he spoke to First Coast News after the incident, he said he would turn himself in if any charges were filed.
First Coast News spoke with Atlantic Beach Police Commander Tiffany Layson Wednesday morning.
Layson said the Atlantic Beach Police Department has obtained an arrest warrant for Thomas.
The charges Thomas faces are resisting an officer without violence, boating under the influence, leaving the scene of a boating accident, disorderly intoxication and breach of the peace.
Layson said despite what Thomas told First Coast News during the interview he has not yet turned himself in. Police have been in contact with his attorneys but no arrangements for his surrender have been made.
