Bicyclist Hit in Jax Beach, Hospitalized | News

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. -- A bicyclist is in the hospital after being hit by a car Wednesday night.

According to Sgt. Thomas Bingham with the Jacksonville Beach Police Department, the bicyclist darted out of an alleyway in the 900 block of 3rd Street South at about 8:30 p.m.  That's near the intersection with 10th Ave. South.

The bike rider was unconscious when first responders found him, and Bingham said he went to Shands Jacksonville for treatment. He wasn't sure what the extent of the victim's injuries are.

Bingham said alcohol was not a factor for the driver of the vehicle involved.
