Jax Beach man facing armed sexual battery charges | News
JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. -- A man is facing armed sexual battery and false imprisonment charges after an incident at a Jacksonville Beach apartment early Friday morning.
According to a police report from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Michael David Dinkins, 27, responded to an advertisement for an escort service on classified advertising website Backpage.com.
Later, a 31-year-old woman was brought to Dinkins apartment in the 700 block of 8th Street South by a friend. The victim was let in and went into Dinkins bedroom with him. Both Dinkins and the victim undressed and laid down on Dinkins' bed. The victim asked Dinkins about the $150 agreed upon fee and use of protection and said she would not have sex with him without both, according to the report.
Dinkins then allegedly pulled a gun out from under his bed, pointed it at the victim and told her they were going to have sex, according to police. The victim told police that Dinkins held her down and forcibly had sex with her against her will. Afterward, Dinkins let the victim leave.
Dinkins' roommates came downstairs to investigate "loud voices," according to the report and were prevented from leaving the house by Dinkins who was blocking the door, holding a kitchen knife in his left hand.
The victim notified police of the incident at 6:19 a.m. and Dinkins was interviewed by investigators. Dinkins was charged with armed sexual battery and four counts of false imprisonment. He is currently being held in the Duval County Jail without bond.
