USS Halyburton to deploy for the last time | News
MAYPORT, Fla. -- The USS Halyburton will leave on its final deployment on Wednesday before being decommissioned later this year.
The ship and its crew will go on a five-month deployment to assist with Operation Martillo, which works to target "illicit trafficking routes" in Central American waters, according to a release from Naval Station Mayport Public Affairs Officer William Townsend.
On its previous deployment in August 2012, the USS Halyburton assisted in NATO's Operation Ocean Shield, which fought piracy off Somalia's coast.
The ship returned from that deployment in February 2013.
