JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. -- Amanda Farmer is one of the leaders of Team Kim Ross, the top fundraising team for this year's 26.2 With Donna.

This group which has 55 runners that make up 11 relay teams also has 7 people who are running the half marathon and 2 that are running the full marathon.

All of these people are running to honor Kim Ross, a local woman who lost her fight with breast cancer this past July.  Ross was part of a relay team in each of the last two years for the 26.2 With Donna.

Young Breast Cancer Survivors Group Receives Final Investing In You Grant

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – The Young Survivors Group at the Women’s Center of Jacksonville will be able to continue to help young breast cancer survivors thanks to a recent $1,000 grant won through Community First Credit Union’s Investing in You contest. The grant will help secure a location for monthly meetings, provide educational materials and fund outreach efforts for the Young Survivors Group.

Mayo Clinic-Led study leads to new advanced basal cell carcinoma drug

 

It’s the most common form of skin cancer, but in its advanced stages, basal cell carcinoma has the potential to become disfiguring and life threatening. An international phase 2 study headed by Mayo Clinic led to the recent Food and Drug Administration approval of the first drug of its kind to help advanced basal cell carcinoma patients who have few treatment options. The results appear in the June 7 edition of the New England Journal of Medicine.
