Seven Tiki Pro Kicks Off Today

The Third Annual Seven Tiki Pro kicked off this morning on the South side of the Jacksonville Beach Pier. Over 80 professional surfers from around the globe will battle it out for cash and prizes today and tomorrow.

By mid-morning the surf had picked up, with waist to chest high sets, near perfect conditions for the competition.

The contest boasts the largest prize purse in the state of Florida and is a part of a series in which the prize money totals almost $100,000.

Come out and enjoy the action today, Wednesday, Sept 28th and tomorrow, Thursday, Sept 29th.

Great American Cookies announced today that it is hosting its second annual Reading is SWEET! National Book Drive to benefit local libraries and charities across the country. The company, which created the program in 2010 to celebrate October as National Cookie Month and National Book Month, collected more than 7,000 books during the program’s first year. 

Come Get Muddy and Help Boselli Foundation

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Don't mind get a little dirty?  Or maybe really muddy?

You can support the Boselli Foundation to help at-risk children and run in the 2011 Jax Mud Fest.   The 5K has obstacles every mile.  In fact, organizers boast it has more obstacles than any other Mud Run out there. 

Organizers call it a "muddy playground."

The last day to register is Saturday, October 1st at $40.  Then the price goes to $50.

Save Duval Sports Fundraisers: Keep Lax in Jax

High schools will be kicking off October with fundraisers to save their sports programs.

Lighthouse Lacrosse will be hosting its First Annual Keep Lax in Jax Benefit Dinner to help save lacrosse. The event will begin with a Silent Auction that starts at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7 p.m. The cost is $50 per person. ‘FinFest on the River’ Benefits Children, Adults with Speech and Hearing Impairment

Helping as many as 3,000 children and adults a year in need of speech and hearing services, the Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center is throwing a ‘party with a purpose’ on September 24 at the historic Florida Yacht Club. ‘FinFest on the River’ is this year’s annual charity fundraiser for the non-profit organization founded in 1949 as one of the first speech and hearing centers to serve children in Northeast Florida.

TONIGHT: St. Vincent's HealthCare to Host Bra Decorating Party

This October pink is the new black.  Women and a few good men from all over the first coast will be putting on their pink bras in support of breast cancer awareness month. The "Put on Your Pink Bra" concept is part of a statewide American Cancer Society campaign designed to empower women.

To get in the spirit of Breast Cancer Awareness month, St. Vincent's HealthCare will host a bra decorating party at Maggiano's Little Italy at the St.Johns Town Center on September 20th from 5:30-8:30 p.m.  The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited.  RSPV today for one of the two sessions (5 p.m.-6:15 p.m. or 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m.) at www.jaxhealth.com/braparty or call 308-6155.  You will need to bring your own pink bra to the party, but we will supply the decorations.
