One family’s golden retriever, Parker, who disappeared from their backyard sometime between 8:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. July 4 has been found dead.

"Parker was extremely friendly and did not have a history of running away," police said. Two weeks later, Parker’s remains turned up wrapped in a tarp, tied to cinder blocks in a creek off Nightfall Drive, just two blocks from his home.

According to a statement released today from Jacksonville Beach Police Department, “Parker’s owners, Kevin and Brenda Brown are devastated and have no idea who may have done this.”

Parker’s death has been labeled an act of animal cruelty and is currently under investigation.
