The Polls Are Open for Alhambra's Summer Show

 

While it’s typically always a family-friendly environment at the Alhambra Theatre & Dining, the summer show annually provides slightly lighter fare for those on Summer break.  Shows like Cinderella and Willy Wonka have been embraced by the young and the young at heart, driving a little extra youthful energy into the nation’s longest running professional dinner theater.  This season – the Alhambra’s 45th! – it is the patrons who will pick the summer show and polls are now open (and it’s only a small coincidence that 2012 happens to be an election year).

North Florida Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Welcomes New Team Members

 

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) of North Florida announces three new team members have joined the organization. Brett Hipsley has been named development director and will manage the Great Strides brand, the foundation’s largest national event, for the North Florida office. He will be responsible for nine of the 13 annual Great Strides that take place from Jacksonville to Pensacola. Mona Hover will serve as development manager and is responsible for overseeing the production of major fundraising events including Cycle for Life, The Oldest City Red Trout Celebrity Classic fishing tournament and Gainesville Tailgate for a Cure. Charlotte Cudd has joined the team as event specialist and will assist in the production of the 24 North Florida CFF events held annually.

Everyone has had those cold days where you just wanted to curl up in your favorite blanket and stay cozy, but what if you didn’t have that blanket? POI’s inaugural Warming the Souls Blanket Drive is gathering blankets for the people in our community who are in this very dilemma.

11-Year Old Jacksonville Songwriter Welcomes Military Home, Donates Proceeds to The USO

 

11 year-old singer/songwriter of Jacksonville Beach, FL Dalton Cyr has dedicated his original song “Whisper” and all his proceeds from the song’s music sales to the USO in honor of his grandmother’s lifetime support of the military. His video on YouTube to the song “Whisper” shows emotional scenes of military men and women reuniting with their children and has been embraced on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube by fans worldwide.

MS Awareness Week and Walk MS Coming this Spring

 

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, North Florida Chapter announced in November open registration for Walk MS 2012, the rallying point of the MS movement. Walk MS takes place every Spring in several locations in the North Florida area. This year, MS Awareness Week will enhance MS awareness during Walk MS season.

Fleet Landing Hosts Pablo Towers' Outing to Light of Nights in St. Augustine

 

Pablo Towers residents recently enjoyed a getaway to the city of St. Augustine to view Night of Lights, compliments of Fleet Landing, a fully accredited Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located in Atlantic Beach.  The trip marked the inaugural outing of a new outreach program between the two communities.
