Residents Battle Childhood Cancer with Lemonade

In their continuous efforts in the battle against childhood cancer, the Dilworth family will host their 6th Annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand Grand Stand as part of the Foundation’s National Lemonade Days fundraising weekend on Saturday, June 11, 2011 from 9AM – 3PM, at their home, 345 8th Street in Atlantic Beach, FL  32233. The Dilworth Family Grand Stand will be held in honor of all children and their families who have been touched by childhood cancer.

Along with lemonade and snow cones, the Dilworth Family Beaches Grand Stand is slated to include various family friendly activities for children of all ages. Among the activities on the agenda: face painting, a silent auction, coloring and crafts, a bounce house, balloons and much more.

The Dilworth family began holding their lemonade stands after reading the story of Alexandra “Alex” Scott in their local paper. With two healthy young children, the family was thankful for their good fortune, but wanted to get involved. Each year the Dilworth Stand has grown, and they plan to continue raising funds and awareness of the deadly disease for years to come.

Founded by Alex Scott (1996-2004), Lemonade Days is a three day national event that grew out of Alex's front yard lemonade stand, and is held every year over the same June weekend. During Lemonade Days, dedicated volunteers host thousands of Alex's Lemonade Stands across the country, raising over $1 million for childhood cancer research in one weekend. June 2011 will mark the 8th Annual Lemonade Days with an estimated 10,000 volunteers at over 2,000 Alex’s Lemonade Stands around the nation making a difference for children with cancer. Lemonade Days 2011 is set for June 10th, 11th and 12th!
