Summer Daze Beach Clean-Up Series Starts June 29 | Community Spirit
JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. -- Keepers of the Coast, a local non-profit dedicated to promoting coastal stewardship and the conservation of coastal habitat, and Volcom are recruiting volunteers for the Summer Daze Beach Clean-Up Series beginning on Friday, June 29th.
This community-wide effort will be held at the Jacksonville Beach Pier, located at 501 1st Street North in Jacksonville Beach from 5pm to 7pm. This four-date series will continue on Thursday, July 5th at five St. Johns County beach locations, and then again on Friday July 13th and 20th back in Jacksonville Beach. The purpose of these clean-up efforts is to restore the coastline following the impacts of tourism and an increase in traffic during the summer time. No pre-registration is required and all participants will be given a bag for trash, a bag of recycling and a bag for cigarette butts.
First 50 participants will receive a custom Volcom / Keepers of the Coast koozie. Volcom will award the volunteer with the most trash collected a Volcom Prize Pack. The volunteer to collect the most cigarette butts will win a pair of Electric Sunglasses.
Last year during this beach clean-up series, over 150 volunteers participated, and collected nearly 34,000 cigarette butts.
