Boobsaplooza is the major fundraising event for Bands Against Breast Cancer (BAB C), a non-profit organization dedicated to educating and empowering women to save their own lives in the battle against breast cancer.  The event is held each October in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

According to BABC Founder Henrietta (Hank) Watson, the event draws a large, diverse crowd of supporters and music lovers.

“People of all ages and socio-economic backgrounds come to help raise money for breast cancer education and awareness by attending the event,” Watson said.  "Also, we'll have a lot of events leading up to Boobsapalooza, including  some involving  Naval Station Mayport and the Pink Pedal Pub Crawl on September 10th.”

Tickets can be purchased in advance at, Lynch’s Irish Pub, In the Pink Boutique, Clay County Humane Society and Chizu Japanese Restaurant. For a $10 donation in advance ($15 at the door/military $5 with proper ID), people can enjoy performances from a variety of artists throughout the day.  Proceeds from the event will go to fund BABC’s community education and outreach programs and innovative breast cancer research.

Other activities include a silent auction, along with chance drawings, custom made breast cancer awareness jewelry, limited edition “2011 Boobsapalooza” T-shirts and other prizes.  Men can also compete in the Mizter Boobsapalooza Contest, with the winner chosen by special guest judges.

To stay informed, Watson encourages people to visit BABC’s new page on Facebook.
