Eco-Safari Themed Charity Event to Benefit North Florida Land Trust

The North Florida Land Trust, dedicated to preserving land for conservation in seven counties, will hold a memorable charity event on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 7 p.m. at the J.Johnson Gallery, 177 4th Ave. in Jacksonville Beach Fla.

The Eco-Safari themed evening will feature a live auction for an African Safari for two and other great prizes. Catering by Liz Grenamyer, a full bar, silent auction, live music and lots of fun and surprises all for a great cause.

Duval County Public Schools Recognizes Black History Month

In honor of Black History Month, public schools throughout Duval County will be participating in a wide variety of programs and events that celebrate African-American history.

Events include book readings, guest speakers, historical re-enactments, presentations of African-American music, literature and arts, and more.

Calling All Artists

First Coast Art will be accepting 2D Art for a Juried Art Exhibit In Conjunction with a Fundraiser for the Museum entitled "A Magical History Tour, Act I and Act II" to be held at the BEACHES MUSEUM & HISTORY CENTER in the  Dickinson Gallery.

Entry Rules

1. Entries will be accepted at  Beaches Museum and History Center, 380 Pablo Ave, Jacksonville Beach on March 1, 2011 between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM & March 2, between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM.  Two pieces may be submitted.

2. Entry fees are $10.00 per picture. The size limit is 22x28 excluding frame. Gallery wrapped is acceptable.  Work must be the original work of the artist and must be wired and ready to hang.

3. ACT I features a Visual Art Tour in the Dickinson Gallery and an Opening Reception Friday, March 4, from 5:00 PM until 6:30 PM.

Stellers Gallery of Ponte Vedra will exhibit the work of internationally-recognized artists Steve Williams and Enrique Mora during the upcoming show, Forces: Mora and Williams. The two artists and their new work will be featured at the opening on Friday, March 25 from 5 pm until 8 pm at Stellers Gallery at Ponte Vedra, 240 A1A North, Ste. 13 in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. Spring Festival and Arts Market

Community Presbyterian Church in Atlantic Beach will host a Spring Festival and Arts Market March 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  This event features children's games and activities, vendor food sales, a tea room, live entertainment, silent auction and handicrafts from local artists.  For more information, call 249-8698.

“Oceans 22” by Janet Wilson opens February1 runs through February 26, 2011

This exhibit features acrylics on display and for sale. Creativity has been a part of Janet Wilson’s life since childhood. She graduated with an art degree from the University of Iowa. Classes, workshops and other artists have contributed to developing her skills. Janet moved to Jacksonville 24 years ago after having lived in New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlanta and North Carolina. Throughout her career she has been involved in illustrating, decorating and visual merchandising. Over the past twenty years she has concentrated on painting canvases and furniture. Her commissioned furniture and canvases are in many private collections. For additional information call or come see her work at the Beaches Museum & History Center. The City of Jacksonville is accepting nominations for the 2011 Jacksonville Jazz Festival Hall of Fame. The Jacksonville Jazz Hall of Fame serves to recognize those who have made significant contributions to jazz in Jacksonville.
