The Environmental Center at the University of North Florida is hosting its first annual Green Week, starting Monday, Oct. 25, and running through Friday, Oct. 29, in an effort to make UNF a “greener” campus. The week will kick off with a tree planting and will end with a boat expedition on the St. Johns River.

Here are the following 2010 Green Week activities:

Green Ospreys Tree Planting: 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, Student Union Pond—Green Ospreys, a new environmental club on campus, will plant nine cherry trees surrounding the pond in the core of campus in front of the Student Union. UNF President John Delaney will plant the first tree.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Florida State Parks is hosting a variety of fall festivals full of family fun this month. From Halloween alternatives to seasonal celebrations, Florida’s award-winning state parks are hosting events for all interests.

Cold and flu symptoms are very similar and it may be hard to tell which virus is making you sick. The cold and flu are both respiratory illnesses, but they are caused by different types of viruses. Flu symptoms usually come on quickly (within 3-6 hours) and consist of a fever, body aches, dry cough, and extreme tiredness. Cold symptoms are less severe and people experience a stuffy nose, productive cough, slight tiredness, and limited body aches.
